  • I was working on Look and Feel yesterday but I don't know how to get back to it. What do I need to do?

There are a few initial steps that must be completed before you can get into your Site Central. The first is selecting a Look and Feel and then you need to build your Home Page. When these two tasks are completed, you will have full access to your Site Central.

Once you enter some info into your home page and 'Build It!', you can go back into Site Central and continue to work on your Look and Feel from the Look and Feel Selector, if you want. When you now reach the "Build Your Home Page" screen, there is a note indicating the following...

(P.S. Don't worry if you'd like to improve your look and feel before building a page. You can return to Look and Feel right after you build your Home page. In any event, the Search Engines will take a few weeks to start delivering some traffic. So you have time to tweak your look and feel until it's just right.)

For now, you can simply fill in the fields with "test." In the body copy, enter "Coming soon" or "Under construction."

Then when you are finished, you can go to the Look and Feel Selector, change your options there and go back later to build your proper Home page.

  • What is a good Demand/Supply/Profitability number?

The ideal scenario is to identify a keyword with "High Demand" and "Low Supply." Low demand is subjective. For example, 501 is a low number but the Supply is only 1 so that particular keyword would be considered profitable.

The PROFITABILITY calculation is a complicated one and takes all other keywords in the list into account, in a weighted fashion. When you add a new keyword (or remove one), you'll find that all the other PROFITABILITY scores change...

But their relative PROFITABILITY to each other remains the same (i.e., the best are still the best and the order stays the same). Bottom line...

The actual PROFITABILITY number of a keyword is not as important as its relationship to all the other words. Take the actual number itself with a grain of salt.

  • When I try to insert blocks to a page, the blocks have become blurred/scrambled.

As outlined in MYCPS! (the SBI! Action Guide), here are a few important pointers...

Use as few blocks as possible. If you go over 20 blocks to a page, the block-stacking page itself (i.e., the Web page that displays all the blocks) starts to become pretty big. If you go over 30 and your RAM is limited, you may have problems actually rendering and completing the block-stacking page. And if you don't have high-speed Internet access, a page with many blocks starts slowing down.

Here are some tips for keeping it tight...

    1) Don't use several Text Blocks in a row. You can enter all the text into one.

    2) Don't use multiple Line Break Blocks in a row. You can choose how many breaks you want within a single block.

    3) Plan the page ahead of time -- you'll find that most pages can be completed in under 10 blocks and all can be done in less than 20. Of course, if you have the RAM and CPU speed and high-bandwidth to handle the bigger pages, you can go over 50 blocks if you like.

  • How can I add my text link into the middle of a paragraph of text?

Let's say for instance that you want to place the following text on your page...

"If you're looking for more information, visit this terrific site and see what they provide." In this case, you want the words "this terrific site" to be a text link (underlined and blue).

    Here's what you do...

    1) Build a Text Block and insert "If you're looking for more information visit ".

    2) Add a text link block and insert "this terrific site" for the TEXT of the link.

    3) Finally add another Text block and insert "and see what they provide."

In the end you should have a pattern of blocks such as...
    TEXT BLOCK
    TEXT LINK BLOCK
    TEXT BLOCK
    TEXT LINK BLOCK
    TEXT BLOCK
    TEXT LINK BLOCK
    TEXT BLOCK
    TEXT LINK BLOCK
    etc....

This is how you incorporate Text Links into your Text.

For additional tips on how to build a Web page quickly and easily, go to this section of the Tips 'n Techniques HQ...

    https://build.sitesell.com/tips/text-template.html

The best and quickest way to build or edit a page is to first lay it all out in your Text Editor, like a "storyboard," so that you know exactly what you want your page to say and look like (and, as an added bonus, you won't have to worry about timing-out at Site Central!).

An "outline" template keeps you organized and let's you see how your page is shaping up as you storyboard it -- and that is the key to saving time.

  • How do I link my TIER 3 page from a TIER 2 page?

To link a TIER 2 to a TIER 3 page, you need to first build the TIER 3 page. When done, take the full url for the TIER 3 page and place it in a text link block on the TIER 2 page. And... if you plan on linking often to a page, upload the link to your Link Library for easy access to inserting on any of your pages.

  • How can I upload a graphic to my Graphic Library?

There are two ways for you to manage your Graphics Library...

Upload all the ones that you anticipate using in your site right away, via the Library. Later, when you build a page and choose to add a graphic using your Graphic Tool, you'll see the whole list (by name -- so create memorable names) for you to select.

Or, if you're in the middle of building a page, you'll also have the ability to upload a single needed graphic, right at that moment.

To add a graphic to your Graphic Library, just browse to a graphic on your computer (.gif, .jpg and .png), no larger than 100 Kbytes, name it, then click upon the 'Add this Graphics' button.

*** PLease note that for optimal resulys all letters in the file name and in the file extension that you upload should be lowercase. Also there should be no spaces in the file names***

  • How do I add a graphic to my Home Page with SBI!'s Site Builder?

If your graphics are uploaded to your Graphic Library, you can follow instructions on how to add graphics to your Home Page by accessing Site Central's 'Tips 'N Techniques'.

    1) Name and upload the image file that you want to use
to your Graphic Library at Site Central.

    2) Type the image source code into the appropriate text  box of your home page, following this format...

    <img SRC="http://www.yourdomain.com/images/FILENAME">

    Please note:

    1) "yourdomain.com" -- enter YOUR domain here.

    2) "FILENAME" is the filename of the image file that you uploaded to your Graphic Library. It is the FILENAME and NOT the description that you gave it in the Library.

If you are still not sure of the url for the image, go to the Graphic Library and click on SHOW ME for the specific image and then right click on that image and view the properties. YOu can then copy paste the proper url reference for the image.

  • How can I add downloadable files for my visitors?

As you know, SBI! is about to launch it's first level of e-Commerce and with that will come Digital Downloads. At that time you will be able to upload a file such as .pdf .exe etc to your domain with SBI! to then offer for your viewers. If you have web space elsewhere on the web you could upload a copy to that location and then link through to it in your SBI site. If you do web space elsewhere you would simply make a link of: http://your-other-web-space-domain.com/filename.pdf Then add a link in your newsletter to this url
    or
If you are knowledgeable of HTML you can build a page in SBI with the PDF included and upload that page in the HTML Editor Compatibility. (Currently the HTML Editor Compatibility is the only way to upload a file such as pdf on the SBI Server. As mentioned above, once SBI!-E launches this will be possible in the regular Site Builder.)

  • I would like to add my own HTML to SiteBuilder-built pages. Is this possible?

With regards to added code (Html or Java script) into SBI!, it is necessary to mention that Customer Support does not supply, support, nor debug added code (Javascript, HTML) etc. Adding code is at your own discretion and is your responsibility. That said, if done properly it will work flawlessly. The builder can interpret HTML, Javascript, etc.

I can suggest to you a great online reference for HTML that I myself use. It's called HTML GOODIES As well there is Web Monkey. Here is a link to their HTML Cheat Sheet

When adding HTML the code must be 100% correct. A simple typo of in place of will cause very noticeable errors on the page. So please be especially cautious with any code you add.

Or you can you use FrontPage or any other WYSIWYG HTML editor. You can then bypass the SiteBuilder and upload your fully built HTML pages.

  • What's KFCP?

A KFCP is a *Keyword Focused Content Page*.

Keywords are words or phrases that are used by Web surfers (when using Search Engines) to locate Web pages that contain relevant information. Basically, they are words or phrases that your average person would think of if they were looking for what you sell.

A KFCP is a page that uses a single keyword throughout... while providing valuable content and information to the visitor.
