I created my home page, but I don't want visitors
or Search Engines to see it yet. Can I delete my SiteBuilder
home page?
After you create your home page, SBI! sends it directly to
WorldSubmitter for submission. This is an automatic action
so you cannot delay or stop it.
There is no delete button for a reason. Your home page is
already submitted to the Search Engines. If you deleted it
now, spiders would arrive and not be able to access it.
This could hurt your site's credibility and ranking score.
You want to keep the Search Engines happy.
Please keep in mind this background information...
1) When you first submit your home page, it will take the
Search Engines anywhere from several weeks to several months
to first spider your page and add it to their index. The
exact time it takes depends upon the individual Search
Engine.
Another factor is the number of links pointing to your site
from quality sites on the Web. Some Search Engines may not
add your site until they find at least one link to your site.
These two factors mean that you have lots of time to improve
and rewrite your home page. Take advantage of your
headstart. You will be ready when the spiders come crawling.
2) It takes time to build traffic to your site. Until you
have a reasonable number of quality content pages and
inpointing links to your site, Search Engines will not
improve your site's ranking position on its search results.
And without a top position, your site will be difficult to
find.
3) If you want to be absolutely certain that visitors won't
see your current home page, you could also use the "Edit
Your SiteBuilder Home Page" functionality (via Site
Central). Remove the text from the Page Text Block on your
home page (saving it in a text file for future use) and then
enter something like this... "This site is currently under
construction."
This strategy, however, may annoy your visitors so weigh
their comfort level against your own. You may not entirely
love your home page but it is providing information which is
what your visitors want. Keep your visitors happy.

How do I make text display below my Form (or Image) and not
wrap around it?
By default, text that follows a Form (or Image) in the
SiteBuilder will wrap around it (i.e., the text is displayed
beside it).
If this is not the effect you desire, please follow these
steps to make the text display below a Form (or Image).
We'll use a Form to illustrate the process..
Step 1) Log into Site Central...
http://login.sitesell.com/
Step 2) In Site Central, scroll down to the One Page at a
Time heading in the SiteBuilder section. Click the name of
the page that you wish to rebuild in the Page Manager and
click the Edit link.
Step 3) On this page, scroll down to the Form Block. Between
the Form Block and the following Text Block, select Line
Break from the drop-down menu. Then click the Insert
button.
Step 4) Complete the options in the Line Break Block as
indicated.
a) Below the How Many? heading, select how many Line Breaks
you wish to insert. If you insert only one, the text will
start immediately below the Form. Select two or more Line
Breaks to insert additional space.
b) Leave Clear All? option at Yes, the default setting.
Step 5) Click on the Preview button near the end of
the page. If you are satisfied with the results, click the
Build It! button.

How do I put a text link on my home page?
The Edit Your SiteBuilder Home Page screen does not
offer all the options that are available on the Edit
your TIER 2 or 3 Page screen for a good reason...
Your home page should pull visitors into your content and
not distract them with too many options. They don't know
you yet. They need to read your information and start to
trust you. This is not a good time to lead them away from
your site.
Let them review your home page and get a sense of what your
site offers, through your NavBar and/or Table of Contents.
Once your visitors view you as a credible source of
information, your income-generating links and
recommendations will carry more weight.
As DAY 1 of the Action Guide stresses, always PREsell or
warm up your visitors before introducing your affiliate
links (or whatever your monetization model happens to be).
This is how you improve Conversion Rates and increase your
revenue.
However, you may have a very good reason to offer a text
link on your home page. If that's the case, insert your own
HTML code in the Text box on your home page.
The Tips & Techniques HQ provides this code...
http://sbitips.sitesell.com/tags.html
Scroll down to the heading "Link Tag," which is near
the bottom of the page.

Techniques section of the Forums...

How do I create a link from one of my pages to another page or to another site?
SiteBuilder is a block-by-block building system. Its Text
Link block will help you create a link (or links) easily and
quickly. Just follow these steps...
Step 1) Log into Site Central...
http://login.sitesell.com/
Step 2) In Site Central, scroll down to the One Page at a
Time heading in the SiteBuilder section. Click the name of
the page that you wish to rebuild in the Page Manager and
click the Edit link.
Step 3) Identify where you want to insert a Text Link block.
For example, you may want to insert a Text Link block
between Text Block #3 and Text Block #4. From the drop-down
menu located between these two blocks, select Text Link.
Then click the Insert button.
Step 4) In the new block that appears, fill in the empty
fields (* indicates required information)...
* Text: This is the text that will be displayed as blue and
underlined on your Web page. Visitors will click this text
to follow the link.
Alignment: Choose whether you want the Link Text aligned to
the left, right, or centered. If you choose None, the
alignment will be the same as what is being used in the
preceding Text block.
* Choose Link: There are two possible scenarios...
Scenario A) If you had previously put this link (and others)
in the Link Library, you can simply select it from the
drop-down menu. The URL will be filled in automatically.
Scenario B) If your link is not yet in the Link Library,
enter the following link information...
i) * Name this link: This will be the name for the link in
the Link Library. (Now when you use the same link again on
another page, you can simply select this name from the
drop-down menu.)
ii) * Enter URL: Enter the full URL of the link, starting
with http://www. Always enter the full URL, even for links
to other pages on your site. Do not simply enter the page
name.
MouseOver Text: This is the text that will be displayed in
the Status Bar at the bottom left of your browser window
when visitors point their mouse cursor to the link. If you
leave it blank, the URL of the link will be displayed
instead.
Open New Window: Select whether a link will open in the
same window or a new window will pop up when the link is
clicked. Which way is best? Use a new window for links to
other Web sites so you don't lose your visitors. For links
to other pages on your own site, do not open a new
window.
Step 5) Preview your page by clicking on the Preview
button near the end of the page. If you are satisfied,
click the Build It! button.
For additional help and details, please click the ?
button and the different heading links in the Text Link
block.

Will 'stop words' in my keyword phrase make any difference?
For odd sounding keyword phrases, you can add small stop
words to improve readability. For example, you could add a
word like...
. a
. and
. but
. if
. for
. by
. the
...to your keyword phrase and the Search Engine will still
recognize it. A more comprehensive list is at...
http://www.searchengineworld.com/spy/stopwords.htm
Analyze It! will work for Specific Keyword phrases with or
without stop words as long as you stay consistent
throughout your entire page. If your keyword phrase does
not have a stop word(s) when used in the Page Title block
but does use one in the Text block, the tool will not pass
the page. To correct this situation, all you need to do is
edit the stop word out of the Title and re-analyze it.
Everything will be good-to-go.
A helpful SBIer used this illustration in the SBI! Forums...
Let's say your Specific keyword for a page is holiday
beach and that's what you entered in the Page Title
block. Then you added stop words to your keyword phrase --
holiday at the beach -- in a Text block so that the
content would flow better.
A Search Engine will just skim over the stop words. Analyze
It!, on the other hand, will not and when it doesn't find
holiday beach within the body of the page, the tool
will tell you to include that keyword.
So how do you make both your readers and Analyze It!
happy?
Use holiday beach wherever you want your Specific
Keyword to appear in your Page Information. After that,
click on the Analyze It! button for a clean bill of health.
Then make a slight keyword adjustment in the body of
your page. Use holiday at the beach instead to help
your sentences read more smoothly and naturally.
As was mentioned earlier, a Search Engine sees no difference
between your keyword phrase with stop words or without. If a
surfer searches using quotes, a Search Engine will return
the exact keyword. If the search is done without quotes, it
will drop the stop words.
For the full discussion about stop words, please see this
thread...

Are e-mail links still OK as an easy way for visitors to contact me?
We highly recommend that you use contact forms on your site (built by Form Build It!) rather than an e-mail address. Unfortunately, an e-mail address is an easy entry point for spam and viruses.
Protect your business. Create forms! How-to instructions are available at the Form Build It! Library at Site Central.

How can I add my text link into the middle of a paragraph of
text?
Let's say, for instance, that you want to place the
following text on your page...
If you're looking for more information, visit this
terrific site and see what they provide.
In this case, you want the words 'this terrific site'
to be a text link (underlined and blue). Here's what you
need to do...
1) Build a Text Block and insert this text... 'If you're
looking for more information, visit'.
2) Add a text link block and insert this 'this terrific
site' for the TEXT of the link.
3) Finally add another Text block and insert this text
'and see what they provide.'
In the end you should have a pattern of blocks such as...
TEXT BLOCK
TEXT LINK BLOCK
TEXT BLOCK
TEXT LINK BLOCK
TEXT BLOCK
TEXT LINK BLOCK
TEXT BLOCK
TEXT LINK BLOCK
etc., etc.
Here's a visual illustration of the process...
http://www.dragos-rules.com/links.html
The best and quickest way to build or edit a page is to
first lay it all out in your Text Editor, like a storyboard,
so that you know exactly what you want your page to say and
look like. (And, as an added bonus, you won't have to worry
about timing-out at Site Central!)
An outline template keeps you organized and allows you to
see how your page is shaping up as you storyboard it -- and
that is the key to saving time.

When I try to insert blocks to a page, the blocks become blurred/scrambled.
As the SBI! Action Guide recommends, try to restrict
the number of blocks to 20. Past that point, page
presentation begins to suffer. Your page starts to look
long which is less enticing to visitors. They are looking
for good quality information that is fast and easy to read.
Respect your visitors' time and needs.
Once you go over 30 and your RAM is limited, you may also
have problems actually rendering and completing the block-
stacking page. And if you don't have high-speed Internet
access, a page with many blocks starts slowing down.
Here are some tips for keeping your page-building process
tight...
1) There is no need to use several Text Blocks in a row. You
can enter all the text into one.
2) Stay away from using multiple Line Break Blocks in a row.
You can choose how many breaks you want within a single
block.
3) Plan the page ahead of time -- you'll find that most
pages can be completed in under 10 blocks and all can be
done in less than 20.
In the end, though, you know your business best and how you
want to build content. So the final decision about the
number of blocks is yours.
You can find additional building guidance at the Tips 'N
Techniques HQ...
