  • I uploaded my own custom logo. Why is it overlapped by my domain name?

When you upload your own custom Top Image (or Logo), the text that is entered in the Customize Logo section of the Look and Feel Selector will overlap your uploaded image.

Does your image already contain all of the text that you want your logo to show? Then remove the default logo text from the Look and Feel Selector by following these easy steps...

    1) Click the Look and Feel Selector button in All Pages section in Site Central.

    2) Click the Customize Logo button for the style you are currently using.

    3) Click the field beside the Enter Logo Text label and press Ctrl+A to mark all text. Then press the Delete key on your keyboard to delete all text.

    4) Click the Customize Logo button at the bottom of the screen.

    5) Click the Go to Look and Feel Selector button on the next screen.

    6) Click the Select/Save This Style button for your style.

Your site will now be rebuilt with your new logo, a process that may take up to 30 minutes.

If after 30 minutes, you still see your old logo, you may be viewing a cached copy of your pages and images. Please hold down the Ctrl key and press F5 to do a full refresh of your browser.

  • I was working on Look and Feel yesterday but I don't know how to get back to it. What do I need to do?

Let's review the situation. You finished your Look & Feel and clicked on the 'Select This Style' button. Now you would like to make some changes. No problem. It's easy to do.

    Log into Site Central...

    http://login.sitesell.com/

Click on the LOGIN Site Build It! button. This will bring you to Build Your SiteBuilder Page.

Why this page and not the Look & Feel page where you were yesterday? Here's why. At this point, you can only access the Look and Feel Selector functionality through Site Central. But to get into that part of Site Central, you must first build your home page.

And that's what you are going to do now -- not a final version but just a rough draft. All you need to do is insert 'test' into all the blank fields on the Build Your SiteBuilder Page, except for one. For the Body Copy field, insert 'Coming Soon' or 'Under Construction'. Then click the Build It! button. You're ready for Site Central!

Click on the Site Central link in the upper right corner of the Build Your SiteBuilder Page. At Site Central, scroll down to the Site Build It! SiteBuilder section and click on the Look and Feel Selector button. Voila! You can tweak until you're satisfied.

    Then what?

Continue with DAY 6 by building your home page properly. Just click on the Edit SiteBuilder Home Page button (in the same SiteBuilder section of Site Central).

  • Can I stretch my page structure the way I want it?

SiteBuilder builds a page in such a way that visitors, regardless of the width of their monitor or their display settings, will be able to view the page without having to scroll left to right as they move up and down a page.

As an SBI! Forums moderator points out, useability studies show that shorter length text is easier to read and won't strain the eyes as much as longer lines do. The more comfortable and satisfied your visitors are about your site, the longer they will stay.

If you wish to have total control over the design of your page, you can create your own page and upload it through the HTML Editor Compatibility module.

Please see this helpful discussion about page width advice/tips in the SBI! Forums, under the category, Using SiteBuilder Look & Feel Templates.

  • Why didn't my Look and Feel change after I updated it?

Any changes you make to your current Look & Feel (which is identified by the red frame on the Look&Feel Selector Page) will only take effect after you click the Select This Style button for that style. Please keep in mind that when you do a preview, you are not seeing your page live on the Net. You are viewing a mock-up.

Unfortunately, if you complete an editing session without clicking on the Select This Style button, the changes will not be saved. Your original Look & Feel remains as the current style. You will need to repeat your customization work.

Rebuilding your site with a new Look & Feel is a resource- intensive process. Depending on the current server load, it may take up to 15-30 minutes for all your pages to be updated.

If you are still not seeing your new changes after this time allowance, you may be viewing an older version of your site from your ISP's or your browser's cache. To solve this caching issue, please try the following...

    1) Go to your site's home page.

    2) Hold down the Ctrl key and press the F5 button. (For MAC users, it's Command R.) This will force your browser to redownload any images it has stored in its cache.

All should be well now. However, if you are still having problems, please contact our Support team using the form at...

    http://support.sitesell.com/contact-support.html

Please include your domain name and the steps you have already taken to try to update your Look & Feel. Thank you in advance for this helpful information.
